Supporting MIGRANTs  Network

Supporting migrants network

First convened in December 2022, this network aims to take action to improve support of residents with a migration background. So far, we have done this mainly by creating connections between our different services, enabling us to share information and work together to address the challenges faced by migrant residents. At the same time, the council is offering opportunities through the network to shape relevant policy and strategic work.

The network is chaired by a member from the refugee-led organisation Ultimate Counselling, with secretarial support from a Coventry University researcher working in the borough. Members include residents working for Community Resources, Marks Gate Relief Project and The Source, and representatives of several council teams. We are keen to welcome other organisations and extend the reach and diversity of the network.

Please contact Tamlyn Monson (ad7231@coventry.ac.uk) to join the network.

Since BD_Collective was established, it was agreed that around 40% of the £100,000 grant from Barking & Dagenham Council would be used for ‘development’. This now makes up the ‘network pot’ and we will use the ‘Open Collective’ platform to distribute funds. This is a public platform and available for anyone to view.

The BD_Collective Leadership Teams have agreed the criteria and process for sign off which is detailed in this pdf: Network-Pot-distribution-Nov-22
