About:
The first of its kind in the UK: A House for Artists is an ambitious model for affordable and sustainable housing tied to long-term public engagement in Barking Town Centre. Designed by architectural studio APPARATA, it provides flexible living and work space for fourteen artists and their families. On its ground floor is The Living Room - a public space dedicated to free creative programmes and social events, ranging from board game nights, life drawing, pottery classes, family art, and community cinema. The programme is shaped in dialogue with the community and delivered by the residents of A House for Artists with the support of Create London. A House for Artists was co-commissioned by Create London and London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. Find out more at ahouseforartists.org or createlondon.org
