Ekota is a locally led community organisation which has been delivering activities to people in Barking and Dagenham for over seven years. The organisation has been commended and nominated for awards for contributions to grassroots activities and for supporting the community. We welcome everyone from all backgrounds to get involved with Ekota and work with a range of groups, from children aged 5 to adults over 60. Examples of projects that Ekota offers include delivering leadership and training opportunities, creating youth forums, running school holiday camps, providing mental well-being support, supporting environmental improvement initiatives, holding social activities, working with local schools and running a range of weekly sporting activities. Ekota also operates a community café based in Goodmayes Park, which provides a beautiful location for people in the community to connect. We have recently launched our bikeability scheme aimed at getting more people to cycle and are about to start delivering our popular holiday camps. Ekota are always looking for people to get involved in our activities or volunteer – more details can be found at www.ekotaacademy.com
