Barking Churches Unite is a charity that works with churches and Christians across Barking to pray and work together for their local community in Barking. They also work in close partnership with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham and with local businesses such as Greggs, Asda, Costco, KFC, Sainsbury, Lidl and with local schools, They provide relief from poverty and homelessness in the Borough and do this collectively through ’The Source’.at the Barking Learning Centre where we have a number of projects:

Pit Stop, A drop in lunchtime café for those in poverty. Provides a free meal. Monday-Friday 11:45am-1:30pm

The Community Food Club: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11:00-1:30pm, Referrals from LBBD. Emergency free parcels provided.

Warm spaces Monday-Friday 10:00am-2:00pm

A Clothes Bank

There is also the Source Shop at 37A, Vicarage Field Shopping Centre - https://www.barkingchurchesunite.org/the-source Here we provide wellbeing groups such as a sewing group (Monday & Thursday 11am-1pm), Job Club (Wednesday 11am-1pm); Drugs support (Tuesday & Friday 11am-2pm. On a Monday, Wednesday & Thursday people can come along and be supported with form filling and benefit applications. All services and groups are offered free of charge. This site also acts as a mailbox and address for the homeless and a listening ear. We also have telephone Helplines for bereavement, those feeling depressed and isolated.

The third site is a warehouse in Thames Road known as The Source Warehouse. From here we collect good quality furniture and white goods, in order to give it to those who are unable to afford furniture and white goods. Both these services are provided free of charge. We support residents with items such as beds, fridges, freezers, microwaves, kettles, tables, chairs, sofas, washing machines, crockery, wardrobes etc.
